EC fans for dry cooler, air-cooled condensers,

and air-cooled heat exchanger

In high-energy-consumption server scenarios such as AI and high-performance computing liquid cooling solutions, the efficiency and stability of cooling systems directly impact equipment operational safety and operational costs. Liquid cooling technology has become an industry focus due to its superior heat dissipation efficiency. The cooling system utilizing EC fan-equipped dry coolers (air-liquid heat exchangers) provides significant advantages in water conservation, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, greatly improving critical metrics like PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) and WUE (Water Usage Effectiveness) for liquid-cooled data centers and computing hubs.
In high-latitude or high-altitude regions with large diurnal temperature variations, where ambient temperatures remain below 35°C for most of the year, the centrifugal EC fans with intelligent speed optimization can automatically adjust airflow based on real-time environmental temperatures and coolant inlet/outlet temperatures.

EC fan based dry cooler operational modes:

Dry operation:

When ambient temperature is below 30°C, the dry cooler achieves heat exchange solely through EC fans.

Wet operation:

When ambient temperature exceeds 35°C, spray humidification or mist evaporation enhances heat dissipation capacity.

Active refrigeration assistance:

Activates compression refrigeration under extreme high-temperature conditions.

Key roles of EC axial fans in this system:

a. Built-in inverter design enables precise real-time speed control responding to load variations and ambient temperature changes.

b. Stepless speed regulation reduces energy consumption and noise while extending product lifespan.

c. IP65-rated internal rotor motor ensures reliable outdoor operation in harsh environments.

d. RS485 communication supports remote monitoring and automated control integration.

EC axial fan speed self controlled by temperature sensor

Typically, users rely on logic control boards to regulate the speed of EC axial fans. This setup is generally suited for scenarios involving multiple EC fans or the simultaneous control of other equipment, such as water pumps and compressors. However, applying this type of logic control to a single EC fan can make the system unnecessarily complex. To address this, we have developed an automated single-fan control solution. It allows the signal from a temperature transmitter to be fed directly to the EC motor, resulting in easy installation and reduced costs. Users can simply set their desired temperature range; the temperature sensor will then output a corresponding 0-10V signal to the EC motor, achieving automatic speed adjustment. Additionally, this system is highly versatile and can also be controlled using other types of sensors.
